Death’s Rebirth

by Annie Clepper

Love hides behind the shadowed surface.

I hope this card will remind you of growth, and the beauty of honoring those who’ve passed. I hope it will let you know that it’s never too late to change; just because something has been broken for a long time doesn’t mean it can’t still be fixed.

Created in response to state hospital cemetery restoration projects.

Image Description: In the center of the card there is a large obelisk (long tall gravestone) that is covered in the middle by a large tree trunk design that runs from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. The tree has a symmetrical design that can be seen as both roots on the bottom and branches on the top. The lower half of the obelisk is cracked, dirty, and shadowed. The top half is clean with a memorial wreath of red poppies, and a single orange butterfly sits on the point of the obelisk.
